Bible study  Small/house groups

Teaching the Word of God, biblical values and attitudes, is a basic function of the Church (Mark 16:15-16). The bible is to have a particular and central place in the life of the Church (2 Timothy 3:16).   We refer to it for all matter of theology, spiritual life and everyday life. We desire to be a testimony of God's grace, faithfullness and love towards people. We teach one another through sermons, testimonies of God's power, and above all by living out our everyday christian life.

What are 'small groups'?
Church is not just Sunday! According to the Bible, the Church is a family of born-again believers built together with each other and with the Lord Jesus. This is where relationships are built - so we meet not only in a 'large group' on a sunday, but also in many 'small groups' during the week. Just as in the Bible, 'small groups' meet in private houses spread out across the whole city, and on different days, so it's easy to find a suitable place and time to suit. Each group is only around 10-15 people, meeting is a wonderful 'family' atmosphere where strong relationships and support are built.

Small groups have 3 goals:
a) Building relationships. Groups give the opportunity to chat over coffee and cake, where we receive support and build long-term relationships. Each group comprises a range of ages and backgrounds - each person brings their own experiences - but together we are all in God's family. Group events like barbecues, bonfires, film nights and excursions are keys to building up a healthy and lively church. If you would like to spend a great time in a friendly atmosphere then 'small groups' are for you.

b) Learning together about God. Listening to sermons on a sunday is not enough to know God and His Word, the Bible, and to discover the very best for our lives. In 'small groups' we have more time for group learning - in an interactive environment - for asking questions, sharing our thoughts and experience - and so for growing in our understanding. Our practical method of studying the Bible aids understanding: How to life life to the full, how best to serve God. In the group meetings we also have time for prayer and worship, so if you have prayer needs the group can pray for you and with you. If you want to know God more, understand more of the Bible, pray and worship God, then 'small groups' are for you.

c) Serving the local community
The goal of the church is never to be an inward-looking, closed group of people. So as part of our general church vision, our 'small groups' are also 'outward focused'. Together, our goal is to serve the local community in any way we can, from praying for people to practical help. If you care for your community and would like to serve and help bring changes,  'small groups' are for you.

Small groups are OPEN TO ALL adults, and we warmly welcome you. Just contact the Pastors for more details of which group may suit you best. We also have special groups for youth and children (contact for details).

With so many English speakers in our church, communication/translation is never a problem - We also offer a bible study group in English each week. If you speak English or would like to learn, please contact Trevor Hawes
